Super Chemistry and PSA Test
Our Super Chemistry + PSA test is recommend for established customers to measure how changes in diet, lifestyle, and exercise are affecting their health. The Super Chemistry + PSA is a combination of our most popular men's tests, and recommended for men over 50--or over 40 if you have a family history of heart and or/prostate problems.
SUPER CHEMISTRY
The super chemistry is a panel that combines our most-popular Chem-26 test with a CBC, or complete blood count. The Super Chemistry + PSA includes:
Our Super Chemistry + PSA test can be a lifesaver if your cholesterol is too high. Your body normally produces all the cholesterol you need. But food, family history, and stress levels can cause them to elevate. Consider our Super Chemistry + PSA to routinely monitor these crucial levels, including HDL and LDL.
A healthy Super Chemistry + PSA profile has LDL levels at 100 mg/DL or less. 130 mg/DL and higher is cause for concern.
Triglycerides, another form of fat, also comes from foods. A Super Chemistry + PSA that shows high triglyceride levels should also be cause for concern. Normally, triglyceride levels should be less than 150 mg/DL. Anything higher is dangerous, and an immediate change in diet, along with cardiovascular exercise, should be considered.
These levels change slowly. If you make lifestyle changes, including diet, and exercise, consider getting a Super Chemistry + PSA test done 2-3 times a year.
The Super Chemistry + PSA also measures glucose, which is the body's main source of energy. Getting a regular blood test can reduce the chances for long-term diabetes complications. If you don't have diabetes, the glucose measurement of the Super Chemistry + PSA will tell you how well your body is turning food into usable energy.
Additionally, the Super Chemistry + PSA also includes a complete blood count, which gives you information about anemia, infections, and blood disorders. You'll receive a report on the number of red and while blood cells, which are important in fighting illness. Platelets--which create clots--and hemoglobin are also tested on our Super Chemistry + PSA.
PSA Test
The prostate cancer test (PSA) offered by HealthCheckUSA measures a protein produced exclusively by the prostate, which is the walnut-sized gland found only in men. Super Chemistry + PSA results are provided in nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL); elevated results can indicate the existence of prostate cancer. Super Chemistry + PSA results between 0–4 ng/mL are considered normal. If your Super Chemistry + PSA level is between 4 ng/mL and 10 ng/mL, there is a 1-in-4 chance of having prostate cancer. If it is higher than 10 ng/mL, your chances are even higher. However, Super Chemistry + PSA levels can rise temporarily because of other health issues, such as age, prostate infection, or certain medications.
It is recommended that most men get a Super Chemistry + PSA beginning at age 50. Men at high risks for prostate cancer should begin Super Chemistry + PSA testing at age 45, or even age 40, depending on your personal and family medical history.
Prostate cancer often grows slowly, which is why early detection greatly increases your chances of getting cured. The Super Chemistry + PSA is helpful after prostate cancer has been diagnosed because it can be used to decide what types of treatments might work best. For example, a very high Super Chemistry + PSA level might indicate that the cancer has spread to other parts of your body. The Super Chemistry + PSA can also show if your cancer treatment is working or if malignant cells still exist following treatment.
